A handmade story that started with kindness
How It All Began
When the world shut down during COVID, Donna worried that her friends and family wouldn’t be able to get face masks. So she bought a sewing machine, grabbed some colourful fabrics, and taught herself to sew — fast.
She spent days and nights stitching masks and sending them out to the people she cared about. What started as a simple act of kindness sparked something bigger: a love of sewing, creating, and making things that help people feel good.
From a Street Stall to Market Days
When lockdowns eased, a young girl on her street set up a tiny market stall outside her house. Donna joked that they should do “real markets” together one day — and that little moment became the start of something special.
Donna began experimenting with headbands, while the girl (Lila) made soaps and face scrubs. They called themselves Lucy & Lil, and to their surprise, their stall was a hit. People loved the colours, the textures, the handmade feel, and the friendly energy they brought to every market.
When Lila eventually moved away, Donna kept going — inspired, encouraged, and more passionate than ever.
Becoming Tildaberry
Donna rebranded the business to Tildaberry, named after our beloved border collie Matilda. The name reflects everything she loves: warmth, personality, creativity, and a little bit of playful charm.
